I have a friend named Heather. She has been my mentor and friend for over 8 years now. We have laughed together, cried together and traveled to remote parts of the world together.

But I noticed something about her on our latest trip to Italy and Greece: Heather is a girl who can wear the day well. You know what I'm talking about? Those girls who can get to the end of a day and look like they stepped out the door 5 seconds ago?

I looked up in Venice, Italy after 26 hours of travel, 3 counties, 8 time zones and about 12 pieces of lost luggage and Heather has one eyelash outta place. Serious. Just one little eyelash. Right there on her cheek. I, on the other hand, look like the hunchback of Notre Dame and smell a little bit like a garbage truck. And here is what I learned in the moment.

I am not Heather. I am not a girl who wears the day well. But that's ok because I am not called to be Heather. Only Heather has that job on lockdown. My job, apparently, is to make you feel better about yourself! #yourewelcome

So what's the point? The point is this: quit trying to be somebody you're not! Quit focusing on what you cannot do and focus on bringing what you do really well to front. Lead with that! What I'm saying is…bloom where you're planted.

Maybe you can’t sing OR cook like Trisha Yearwood, but you are great at connecting with your kids and their friends over a game of Skipbo.

Maybe you aren’t the star at top of the leaderboards on your sales team, but you are the steady eddy, showing the new kids on the block what it looks like to consistently work hard week in and week out.

Maybe you aren’t the wife who thinks wearing your pajamas at 3pm is inappropriate, but you are the wife who covers her husband and his business in prayer, asking for wisdom, discernment and favor.

Maybe you aren’t the speaker at the women’s conference, but you are a smile and a friendly face that welcomes all the broken hearts at the door.

Don’t think a warm welcome is important? #wrong. Listen, I attended a women’s conference a few years ago with world renowned speakers on the line up, but the welcome I received from the front door to the registration to the child care was rude at best. If I wasn’t so stubborn, I would have just left. But I’m so glad I didn’t because it was during that conference that the Lord ask me to take a HUGE leap of faith and begin serving in prophetic ministry.

I didn’t even know what that meant! I grew up in a small town in Southeast Texas. They don’t exactly teach you that stuff. But these past few years of growing and serving through the prophetic has not only changed my life but the lives of my family, friends and business. The Lord has shown me so much more of who He is and who I am through this experience. So if you don’t think being a greeter with a welcoming smile makes a difference, think again. It makes me sad to think about what my life would be missing if I had let Sally SourBritches keep me from all the goodness God had waiting for me there.

If we quit focusing on who we are not and focus on who we are, who we ARE can make a huge difference today in the exact place we find ourselves. You ARE enough. You have what it takes to make a difference in today. Bring you to the table and watch what happens. Take a look around at the field God has given you to tend. You may not be in a field where you wanna be, where you thought you’d be or where you are gonna be. But this is the season the Lord has for you right now. Your location. Your relationships. Your sphere of influence. They are not a coincidence or a mistake. They are an important part of your journey from dream to destiny.

Galatians 6:9 says:

"Do not grow weary in doing good, for at the proper time, you will reap a harvest if you do not give up.”

Plant seeds right where you are! The harvest will come. The next season, the next promotion, the next opportunity will come when we have accomplished all that God has for us in this one. Who needs what you have? Go find them and give a bit of who you are to make their world better. You are capable of things you never thought possible. Bloom where you are planted and make the soil around you a little richer.
